Every candidate says they are "pro-education." Who wouldn't feel that way? However, not every candidate will have the courage to stand up to the special interests standing in the way of meaningful and legitimate reform. I will work to fight through the crippling gridlock on reform that special interest has placed on education policy in Minnesota. I will support creative solutions that will make our schools better, while at the same time saving tax payers money. We owe our children the best education we can provide, which sadly is not the current case. Fully funding schools is only half of the equation. Policy and curriculum reform are equally vital to ensure a vital education system in Minnesota for years to come. I will support efforts to reform statewide testing, to encourage smaller class sizes and charter schools. I will also support efforts to find a way to pay our best teachers more, and ask our worst teachers to find a different career.
